Cricket: A Journey of Challenges and Achievements


Introduction

Coming back after almost four years, playing for your country creates a unique moment every time. Honestly, it feels like my debut series because when you wear the star of your country on your chest, the feeling is completely different. You can't explain it, but I think it's a challenging experience for me. The credit goes to PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) management, honestly. The trust they have in me puts pressure on me to fulfill that trust. I made my debut in 2009, when we became the World Champions. Then, we played the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy against Pakistan and became champions. That was a short-term goal, which is the World Cup, and it's the biggest goal at this time because Pakistan has reached the semi-finals in 2021 and the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The missing line, the cross the line, is an achievement for me. I think my fitness level from that time to this time has improved significantly. When you are fit, you can express yourself on the ground no matter how many skills you have. So, I believe that my body feels fitter than ever before, which can benefit the team. One of the biggest plus points for me is the positive energy that my wife and my daughter share with me. The time I spend with them is my me-time and motivational time. She makes sure that my focus is always on cricket and she gives me the energy to face whatever challenges come my way.
